Plants vs. Zombies Live

Ayala Center, Cebu sponsored a chucklesome and a comic show entitled, Plants vs. Zombies Live. It was a 3-day show (August 17 - 19, 2012) that has 3 different time slot on every show. We watched on the last day and enjoyed it a lot. The show is not only intended for kids but for the whole family since almost everyone can relate to it. Of course, who would not ever know about Plants vs. Zombies? It's one of the most popular PC games today.
Aside from the close-to-perfect costumes, the audience also enjoyed singing and interacting with the actors since it's a musicale-interaction show. Haha, that made the crowed a bit noisy, but you can see that everybody enjoyed. There was also "meet and greet" with the characters after the show so, we had the chance to take pictures with them. Nice!

>>> Special mention to Ante Ivy for the ticket. Thanks much!

Reminiscing childhood days

Ooooppppsssss, Sorry... I just can't stop!

Once, during my childhood days, I was crazy over this "sweetcorn-flavored-junkie" called, "Super Crunch". For normal kids coming from a simple family like, me would ever know what I'm talking about.

Reminiscing childhood days... And, I finished one whole pack in no hour.

After 48 years: Go Girl by Baby Bash

I've been searching for this song for quite a long time. I first heard this song on a bar Sinulog of last, last year.       It took time for me to search for this song since I don't know the title nor the lyrics. I can only recall few lines of it, " excuse me miss ". Yeah, that brief. And none of my friends around me knows the song. So eventually, I let go of my madness and moved on. But last night, as I was watching a "community generated video" show on TV, this song was featured and so my interest for the song was awaken. And yes, finally I found it. Thank you to that "not-so-like-by-me" TV show of ABS-CBN, cgetvindaloop for featuring this song.
Here it is...

RIP, Mang Dolphy

The whole nation is grieving today for the passing of the Comedy King, Dolphy. May you rest in peace to the place called heaven, Mang Dolphy. You have my prayers...
I will never forget you as Kevin Cosme. The wittiness, the laughter, the moral story of your weekly show (Home Along Da Riles) that I used to watch every Thursday back when I was a kid helped me become a better person today.
Thank you for being a part of our lives. We're sad that you have to bid farewell but your works and wonders will always be in our hearts. Thank you for being a good energy when bad ones strikes. We will miss you.

Edwin Mccain Concert in Cebu

Edwin McCain singing his major hit on 1998, I'll be during his back-to-back concert with Taylor Dayne at the Water Front Hotel and Casino in Cebu City last May 30, 2012.
This song has been the national anthem in karaoke machines and beer houses and I used to sing this song back in college during school programs or outside activities.
I'm so lucky to have witnessed live this awesome artist with really great voice and pure talent and I should  say, nothing beats the original!

BANGUS RESTAURANT

BANGUS RESTAURANT is one of my favorite filipino restaurants that I always would like to dine. Unfortunately, I haven't heard of this restaurant yet anywhere in Cebu. If there is, then it may not have been tremendously publicized.
For a very affordable price, you get to enjoy sumptuous food that is perfect for Pinoy taste.
Aside from their best seller which is Bangus, I would also recommend that you should try their Pinakbet. For me, it's the best pinakbet I have ever tried in my entire life.
Bangus Restaurant is owned and operated by Bangus Republic, Inc. It is located in SM Mall of Asia, Bay Blvd, Pasay City, Metro Manila

                                                       Boneless Bangus ala Pobre

Pinakbet in huge cut. This is my most favorite dish in Bangus Restaurant

COBO Tea & Beverages and All Seasons Bakeshop

Smoothies + Bread = YUMPINESS (yummy + happiness)

I admit, I was once crazy over smoothies and once again, right now, I'm into that state.
I bumped into this little store called, Cobo one day and tried one of their best sellers and yes, they were never wrong - It's the best!

Taro smoothies with chewpearl @ 22oz for only P85.00

What I like most about Cobo is that, you have the option to choose the amount of sugar you want to put on your drink. For me, I chose mild.

For the Love of Bread...

I must confess, I am not a huge fan of breads but when breadtalk evolved in Cebu, I became their fan and tried almost everything they have.
These past few days, I discovered a bakeshop that sells bread in Taiwanese style. Their ' buy 2, take 1 ' promo really caught my attention and made me go, find out what's in-store for me.

I should say, Taiwanese bread are tasty and good. The price is just so affordable. Their usual price range is from P20.00 - P40.00.

This is my personal favorite. (**,)

COBO Tea & Beverages and All Seasons Bakeshop are both located in J Center Mall in A.S. Fortuna, Mandaue City.

Butanding in Oslob

Be amazed as you experience swimming with the breathtaking creatures God has ever created.
In Oslob, Cebu where you can reach by land for approximately three hours from Cebu city, you will be able to amazingly find giant whale sharks or the so-called, Butanding (Rhincodon typus).  It’s an experience that you shouldn't miss especially if you are a type of person who loves adventure and outdoor stuff.

According to a reliable source, the management has recently changed the rate.

*Viewing fee*
Local:   P300.00
Foreign: P500.00

*Snorkeling fee*
Local:  P500.00
Foreign: P1000.00
(Rates are subject to change without prior notice)

Before you dive in with the whale sharks, there are some guidelines that you need to follow. Some few reminders that I can still recall are the following:
- Keep your distance, they might hit you by their tail
- Always listen and follow to your tour guide's instructions for your safety
- Do not apply sunblock or any sunscreen protection to your body, its chemical content may harm them

If you are  a light traveler and some sort of a cowboy, you don't have to worry about feeding yourself. There are variety of food that you can grab for meal.

You can also buy some souvenir items for you friends.

Aside from water activities, you can also visit Oslob's old church and park. The view is so irresistible  that you would surely pull out your cameras and take pictures.

Historical Fact: According to residents, the church got burned in 2008.

IT'S MORE FUN IN THE PHILIPPINES!

BINIGNIT (fruit porridge) for HOLY WEEK

Binignit (Fruit Porridge) is widely popular in the Visayas and Mindanao region and is phenomenal especially during holy week. They said, it originated in Cebu province so there is no way for you not to know what bininignt is if you are a lumad in Cebu.
I don’t know what makes it so special that almost every household prepares binignit during holy week.
It maybe because People usually fast at that time or, it maybe that it’s already a tradition to Cebuanos.
As far as I can remember back then,  I have been eating fruit porridge ever since I was a kiddo.

The good thing about binignit is, everyone got to enjoy its sweetness and the taste of the coconut milk that makes it palatable to your taste and would make you beg for more. And of course, it is affordable and healthy.

Since it’s holy week, we have also prepared Biningnit at home. Even in the office, they serve binignit to all employees.

If you want to try Biningnit and you are here in Cebu, there are some restaurants that include Binignit in their menu list for meryenda . One that I know of is Golden Courie/Hukad located in Ayala Center Cebu, SM, and Lahug. You can also find Binignit in mall food courts.

If you are a little curious and would like to prepare binignit at home, here’s a recipe that I found when I tried to google it:

Preparation Time: 25 minutes |Cooking Time: 30 minutes |Servings: 5 to 6

Cebuano Binignit Ingredients:
  • 1 pc white gabi (taro root) you can substitute cassava if available, cubed
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 pcs yellow camote (sweet potatoes), cubed
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 pc ube (purple yam), cubed
  • 4 tbsps landang or tapioca
  • 4 pcs ripe Saba (plantain), sliced
  • 6 pcs ripe Langka (jackfruit)
  • 2 cups coconut milk
  • 1 cup coconut milk, diluted with water
Cebuano Binignit Cooking Instructions:
·    Cook gabi, camote, ubi, and Saba (plantain bananas) in diluted coconut milk.
·    Add sugar, salt, and landang (or tapioca).
·    Add Langka then Simmer until all ingredients are tender and mixture is thick.
·    Add 2 cups coconut milk. Cook in medium heat.
·    Do not boil or liquid will curdle. Adjust amount of coconut milk to your available ingredients.
·    Serve hot.

Tip: If you want to make your binignit more colorful, you can add Sago of any color you want.
